Data
What moves from WooCommerce to Shopify?
Products and variants with their images, prices, SKUs and stock; categories as collections; customers with their addresses and marketing consent; order history; pages, blog posts and product reviews; and your page titles and meta descriptions.
Do customers need to reset their passwords?
Yes. Passwords can't be moved between platforms for security reasons. Customers get a branded email invite to activate their new account in one click.
What happens to saved payment cards?
Saved cards stay with your payment provider and can't be moved to Shopify's checkout, so customers re-enter their card at their next checkout. Subscriptions are the exception, covered under Apps and features.
Do my product reviews come with me?
Yes. Reviews are imported into a Shopify reviews app, with their star ratings, dates and reviewer names.
What about products with more than 3 options?
Shopify allows up to 3 options per product, such as size, colour and material. Products with more are restructured, for example by splitting them into linked products, so they still work for shoppers. Your audit lists every product this affects.
My store has several languages or currencies. Can it move?
Yes. Shopify handles languages and currencies through Shopify Markets and its translation tools. Translated content from plugins such as WPML is moved across, and I set up prices and currencies for each market.
SEO
Will I lose my Google rankings?
Not if the redirects are done right. I keep your titles and descriptions and set up a 301 redirect for every old URL. Most stores see a small dip for 2 to 3 weeks while Google recrawls, then recover. I watch Search Console daily for 30 days and fix anything that slips. How to migrate without losing SEO.
Will my URLs change?
Shopify uses its own URL structure, so some addresses change. Every old URL gets a 301 redirect to its new address, so visitors and Google land in the right place.
What happens to my sitemap?
Shopify creates and updates your sitemap automatically. On launch day I submit it to Google Search Console so Google finds the new pages quickly.
Do my blog posts move too?
Yes. Blog posts move to Shopify's blog with their images, titles and descriptions, and each old post URL is redirected to its new address.
Downtime and launch
Will my store go offline during the move?
No. Your WooCommerce store keeps taking orders while I build and test the Shopify version. The domain only switches once you've approved it.
What about orders placed just before the switch?
Right before the domain switches, I sync any orders and customers that came in since the main migration, so nothing placed in the last days is lost.
What if something goes wrong on launch day?
Your WooCommerce store stays intact. If launch day goes wrong, it goes back live within the hour while I fix the problem. That's the switch-back promise.
Can I keep my domain and email?
Yes. Your domain points to Shopify on launch day. Your email stays with your current email provider and isn't affected.
Price and timing
How much does a migration cost?
A full migration starts at $1,495 for stores with up to about 1,000 products, and migration with a redesign starts at $3,495. Stores with subscriptions or custom features are quoted after the audit. The audit is free, and your fixed price arrives within one business day. Read the full cost guide.
What's included in the price?
All your data moved, a Shopify theme styled to your brand, 301 redirects for every old URL, payments, shipping and taxes set up, pixels and email flows reconnected, test orders, the domain switch and 30 days of free fixes. See the packages.
What's included in the free store audit?
A list of everything that moves, each plugin and its Shopify replacement, any risks I see, a launch date and a fixed price. It's yours to keep, even if you don't hire me.
How long does a migration take?
It depends on how many products, orders and custom features you have. You get a launch date in writing with your fixed quote. See how each phase runs.
Do I need to buy a Shopify plan first?
No. I start on a Shopify development store at no cost to you. You pick a plan just before launch, and I'll recommend one in the audit.
Why are your prices lower than an agency's?
There's no account team, sales staff or office to pay for. You work with one experienced developer who does the migration, at a fixed price.
Apps and features
What happens to my plugins?
In the audit I list every plugin you use and the Shopify app or built-in feature that replaces it, with what each one costs.
Can my subscriptions move?
Yes. Subscriptions move to Shopify Subscriptions, Recharge or a similar app. Whether customers' saved payment details come too depends on your payment provider, and I check that in the audit before you commit.
I sell wholesale. Does that work on Shopify?
Yes. Wholesale pricing and customer-only catalogues are handled with a wholesale app, or with Shopify's built-in B2B features on Shopify Plus. I recommend the right one for your size.
What about my email marketing?
Klaviyo, Mailchimp and most email tools connect to Shopify. I reconnect your lists, sign-up forms and abandoned-cart emails, and test that they fire.
I also sell in person. Can Shopify handle that?
Yes. Shopify POS runs your in-person sales from the same products and stock count as your online store.
Still have a question? Ask it in your audit.
Send your store URL. You'll get a free audit, a plugin-by-plugin plan and a fixed price within one business day.
