What replaces your plugins on Shopify?

Tick the WooCommerce plugins your store relies on. You'll see what takes over each job on Shopify, whether it's free, and which ones to plan before you move.

How to read the results

  • Built into Shopify means the feature is part of every Shopify plan. Nothing to install.
  • Free app by Shopify means Shopify makes the app and doesn't charge for it.
  • Third-party app means you'll pay a monthly fee in most cases. Many have a free plan for small stores.
  • Not needed on Shopify covers hosting jobs like security, caching and email delivery, which Shopify runs for you.

Most WooCommerce stores find that more than half of their plugins disappear after the move. That's a big part of why Shopify stores are cheaper to keep running: fewer plugins to update, fewer conflicts, and nothing to break on a Friday night.

The plugins to plan first

Four kinds of plugin change how a store works, so sort them out before anything else:

  • Subscriptions. Active subscribers only keep renewing if their saved payment details move too.
  • Bookings and memberships. Pick the Shopify app first and check it handles your exact rules.
  • Multi-vendor marketplaces. Shopify has no built-in marketplace, so this one needs the most thought.
  • Redirects. WooCommerce and Shopify use different URLs. Every old URL needs a 301 redirect, or you lose your Google rankings. The SEO migration guide has the full URL map.

Questions

Will every WooCommerce plugin have a Shopify replacement?

Almost every common one does, either built in or as an app. Custom plugins written for your store are the exception. Those are rebuilt with a Shopify app, a small custom app or theme code, and they're the main thing that changes a migration quote.

Do my plugin settings and data move across?

Data moves: products, customers, orders, reviews, gift card balances and loyalty points can all be imported. Settings don't. Each replacement app is set up fresh, which is also a good moment to drop features nobody uses.

How much will the apps cost each month?

It depends on the apps and your store size. Many stores end up paying less than they did for premium plugins, hosting and maintenance combined. The free audit totals it up for your exact list.
